Because the most meaningful photographs aren’t manufactured. They’re lived.

I create space. Space to wander. Space to settle. Space to be. Whether it’s a wedding day or an ordinary afternoon you want to remember, my approach stays the same — intuitive, intentional, deeply considered, and rooted in connection.

MEET YOUR PHOTOGRAPHER – THE BONES BEHIND TRP

Hello there, I’m Tilly

A WEDDING & LIFESTYLE PHOTOGRAPHER DOCUMENTING LOVE AND LIFE WITH REVERENCE AND INTENTION. CRAFTING TIMELESS, HEIRLOOM IMAGERY FULL OF SOUL AND STORY

I’m based on the South Coast of NSW, but my work takes me across the state, following stories wherever they lead. My love affair with photography began at eleven, when film taught me to see light differently. At sixteen, I was gifted my first camera and I knew, without question, that this was the work I wanted to do for life. In 2012, during my first year studying Visual Arts at UOW, I began my photography journey in earnest.

Outside of photography, I’m someone who follows curiosity wherever it leads. I have a revolving door of hobbies (many at once — slightly overwhelming, always joyful). I live for springtime, tending to my garden and cut flowers. I have an incredibly strong affinity with animals and nature. I’m drawn to the quiet magic of the outdoors — whether it’s bush walks, picnics, camping, or watching thunderstorms roll in with quiet reverence. I love collecting vinyl records, crystals, and an ever-growing selection of hot sauces. Music is deeply woven into my world — it shapes my days and my creative rhythm in ways that feel hard to articulate, but essential.

I also enjoy art (hence the degree and career, duh), film photography, podcasts, books and candle-making. I have a soft spot for thrifting and antiquing (or collecting dead people’s stuff), and caring for the environment is a value I hold close.

I’m passionate about living sustainably and thoughtfully, which naturally extends to my work, and is why TRP proudly reflects an eco-conscious approach (and why I’m proud to be an ambassador for Mindfully Wed — an eco-ethical wedding education hub).

I’m endlessly fascinated by history; local and natural, and hold a secret dream of uncovering a dinosaur fossil one day (only half joking). On quieter nights, you might find me immersed in the stranger corners of life — horror, true crime, the occult or the macabre; I’m drawn to the strange and curious, collecting oddities and curiosities that speak to that side of me. I’m enchanted by all things witchy — the subtle magic in everyday rituals, nature, and quiet moments. Balance, right?

When I’m not outdoors or creating, you’ll likely find me at the movies, wandering museums or National Parks, or deep-diving into a documentary by David Attenborough or Louis Theroux. Some of my favourite shows are The Office, Parks & Rec, and Broad City.

I love connecting with like-minded souls, so hopefully there’s something in there that we have in common! If we do, I’d love to hear all about it and discover your story. Because to tell yours well, we have to first understand each other.

A DEEPER LOOK INTO

MY PHOTOGRAPHY PHILOSOPHY

Working together is simple, intentional, and centred on connection — for people who value feeling over perfection and want images that feel honest, artful, and lived-in. Whether you’re planning a wedding or inviting me into a season of life that’s tender and fleeting, my approach is intuitive, intentional, and deeply considered. If you’re drawn to storytelling imagery and want photographs that hold meaning long after the moment has passed, we’ll likely be a good fit.

I know having your photo taken can feel intimidating — for most people, it comes with nerves. My goal is always to make the experience feel calm, comfortable, and genuinely easy… maybe even a little fun. I tune into your energy and personality, working alongside you in a way that feels natural and complimentary — whether that’s as an individual, a couple, or a family. I don’t arrive with a checklist of poses or a formula to follow. I arrive ready to notice — the way you naturally lean into each other, the quiet pauses, the small gestures that say more than any direction ever could. I’ll guide you when you need it, gently and without pressure, but I’m never here to choreograph something that doesn’t feel like you. Introverted or extroverted — there’s space for all of it here. I adapt my approach to suit you, always with the hope that, before long, you forget you’re even having your photo taken.

Moments rarely unfold exactly as planned — children wander, timelines run gently off course, winds change and skies shift, babies need soothing, hair gets tangled. None of this is interruption; it is the story itself. If your child runs toward the water, we follow. If your baby wants to be held the entire time, we lean into that closeness. If the weather turns wild or moody during your wedding, we embrace the atmosphere it brings. So I move with the moment, never against it. I’ll offer soft guidance when it’s needed, but I’ll never ask for constant smiles, stillness, or “perfect” behaviour. The result is a gallery that feels tender, true, and deeply reflective of your story exactly as it is, right now.

The mindful and conscious way I live echoes through the way I photograph; my shooting style is a slower, more intentional storytelling experience. Unhurried and poetic, it allows space for quiet moments to unfold naturally, documenting your story in its truest rhythm. And perhaps most importantly, when you book a photo session with me, you’re not just having your picture taken. You’re saying yes to an hour in nature, an hour without phones, an hour for wandering, an hour to play, an hour to connect. You’re saying yes to an hour of just being.

Oh, and this is Ryan!

This is my amazing love of mine Ryan, who you may see with me at weddings. Ryan has been my second shooter for the last 8 years! He’s an incredibly kind, gentle and sincere soul, and I’m so proud to have him represent the Tilly Roberts Photo brand.

Ryan is a photographer and videographer by trade, and has a strong professional background in photography. I like to think that it was because of our love of photography that brought us together, as we first met each other in a film photography class at uni.

Ryan is the golden retriever to my black cat energy, so we balance each other out quite well. Ryan is an extremely talented photographer and knows exactly what he’s doing, which leaves me to concentrate on my job (and luckily doesn’t require me to boss him around... too much).

Together we raise our golden retriever daughter Wednesday (a dog), our son Buttercup (a bunny), and our actual human daughter Ophelia Wilde, and spend our time going on photo adventures with our Fujifilms.
